Planning our wedding

Well, gosh, I could have posted this two weeks ago. I kept meaning to, but have sat lazily lurking everyone else's blog.

Just over two weeks ago, we booked our wedding venue! We'd been engaged only a week and got straight into the planning :) We visited a venue that I'd been told was lovely, but had never been there before. Neither had Gareth. But we had a quick look 'round, talked a few price options and booked it on the spot!

Here is where it'll take place!

It's a beautiful house, with really beautiful grounds :) Lots of gorgeous places for photos, so now we just have to hold out hope for sunshine!

Pretty ponds :)

Even the gates are beautiful!

Giant lump o' coal. As you do.

Bandstand! This is why I'm desperate for a sunny day!

More pretty ponds! There are four :)

We're having the ceremony at 2 pm, followed by afternoon tea. We didn't fancy a 'proper' sit down meal and we're both huge fans of tea and cake! We booked the afternoon tea before we'd sampled it, so when we came to try it a few days later, we were so pleased!

Yum!

My future hubby was pretty pleased!
We had three little sandwiches, a coconut cake, some chocolate cake and half a scone with jam and clotted cream each. It was all so good, especially the coconut cake. Super hope we get them on the wedding day! I'll have to put in a special request :D It was so much food, we were still stuffed hours later! We even moved the wedding ceremony back an hour to make sure that our guests won't be too full come the evening.

I've also found my dress! I think! I went dress shopping 6 days after getting engaged (I know, keen!) and loved the second dress I tried on. I tried on about six or seven, but only really loved the one. It's super expensive, but I guess if you're ever going to spend a lot of money on a dress, it should be for your wedding day! I went to another shop a few days later and tried on another load, but none were a patch on 'the' dress. They were all beautiful, I just didn't feel as wonderful in them. So tomorrow I'm going to try on 'my' dress again and if I'm 100% certain, we are going to order it :D I can't give too many details as G reads my blog, but its ivory and very elegant. Which isn't what I thought I'd go for! Good job I found one I liked quite quickly, as it'd going to take 6-8 months (maybe more!) to be made and arrive. I hope it doesn't take longer than that, I'll need alterations made too!

I've pretty much finalised our guestlist and seating plan and we've decided on our table decorations and favours. I've bought most of the stuff for the favours already - best to be organised! We've picked a guy we like to be our photographer and we're just waiting for him to get back to us about a consultation. If we can afford him and he's free, that will be another thing checked off the list!

Andddd, the best bit - we've booked our honeymoon! I think G knows I'm more excited for the honeymoon than the big, scary day, so it's cool haha! We're going to Walt Disney World Florida! EEEEP! We are staying in the Old Key West resort in Disney, for fourteen days. We have a two-week pass to Disney and will be going to Universal Studios and Harry Potter World (AKA Islands of Adventure)!!! EEEP again!

We still have a lot to sort out, but most things we have planned out. It's just booking, hiring and paying now!

I'm going to try real hard to keep up with my posting, I need to document this exciting time!

  4. This is all moving so fast! haha How exciting. Florida! I went there when I was seven...I wasn't supposed to look in some banquet room or something but I totally did and was totally traumatized because I saw Roger Rabbit take his head off. And that's basically all I remember from that trip.
